Ho, Ho, Ho Springs Eternal

This is just about the same time every year that I start reflecting on (laughing at) how drastically my Christmas card list has changed in 12 short months!!

  1. Bah! Humbug! I’m rather Grinchy. Except I *always* cry during the “When Christmas Comes To Town” song in Polar Express.πŸ˜•

    1. Okay so…have you seen the remake of The Preachers Wife with Denzel and Whitney…it’s a beautifully sweet Christmas movie that people forget about but…it’s one of my favorites and the end scene in the church ALWAYS gets me. There’s about 3 or 4 movies I tear up at and that is *still* one of them!!!

      1. I have not seen it. Guess I’ll have to now. At least I’m forewarned to have a box of tissues handyπŸ˜πŸ‘

    1. Yeah I’m already thinking of alternate ways to spend the new found Christmas windfall!

  4. I can’t even remember the last time I sent out Christmas cards . I just really think they are a waste of a good tree lol

    1. I do it every year. Can’t quite give it up! Plus reaping the guilt of everyone who never sends cards is repayment enough πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      1. Lol very true. Well now you make me feel guilty . Hmm maybe I can go to the dollar tree and pick up some cards. Lol You don’t do a Christmas letter do you? You know the one where they go through the entire year and mention people that you have never heard of and crazy things that happened all year. Lol

        1. No…I find those self indulgent and presumptuous! Nobody cares 3/4 of the year, it being December won’t change anyones level of interest or involvement with my kids! πŸ˜‚ Sad but true!

          1. YES. I totally agree. I’m glad to hear that.

  5. Did you buy those pjs? I send Christmas cards every year too! I think it’s such a relief from getting bills in the mail and it keeps us in touch with everyone. Do you add photos of the kids? I always like to get those photo cards to see how everyone’s grown up!

    1. I did, as a Funny. It has a bear head hood lol. Mostly because I’ve threatened everyone not to ever buy me any of the gross pajama onesies at target! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ But this one was cute…and maybe Chewbacca I could settle for too!

And that’s kind of why I do it. Maybe I want to be the ‘one’ who still does it among my family…the bigger man if you will. There’s so much antagonism in some families it’s a good time to put the bullshit aside. And yeah, the cards actually *are* a picture of the kids by our tree. Ive done it this long and I like to be able to look back on them and the changes 😊😊😊

      1. I love that you bought the pjs! I bet the girls will love their adorable dad in his new blue bear outfit! LOL I am that type too. Goofy, wearing the santa hat and trying to bring good cheer. I think under the circumstances, it helps relieve the tension during the holidays. Not that I do it to try to hard, no. I just do it because it comes to me naturally. Know what I mean? I think we’re kindred parents. I love that you send a card with the kids photos. I do too. Many of my friends stopped when they got divorced, but I’ve continued because it’s a tradition that I enjoy. Of course, the kids dislike the whole taking the Christmas photo formality so after my Ex left, we did casual shots and it was more fun. Let the traditions that you enjoy stay. The others, let them fade away. You’re a great dad Sam. Hold steady. Let the holiday spirit guide you with happiness and joy.

        1. I can believe that all comes naturally to you 😊😊😊 I figure anything big or small that they can still count on will be important later on (even if it annoys them now!) So I’ve tried to keep as much the same as I can when SO much has changed in the last few years. *Always* changing!! Thank you so much! You as well and I’m glad we will know each other this Christmas! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

          1. Me too! I am so grateful we met and connected. It is definitely important to keep those connections and traditions alive for them especially when so much else is changing. Good for you! β™₯
